Regular Meeting Minutes

December 23, 2002

 

Selectman Michael J. Hayward, Sr. called the regular session of the Selectmen's meeting to order on Wednesday, December 23, 2002 at 3:30 p.m. The meeting was held in the Town Office, located on 34 Dunbar Hill Road, Grantham, NH.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Motion made by Selectman Hutchins to approve the regular meeting minutes of December 11, 2002; motion seconded by Chairman Jones. Unanimously approved.

APPEARANCES

Police Department Facility: Present were Chief Russell Lary & Deputy Chief Jerry Whitney.

Russ displayed the latest set of building plans with an approximate square footage of 3,200. There were questions regarding the current Fire Department parking area. Possible parking could be out in back of the building. Chairman Hayward stated that the generator needs to be housed outside rather than in the mechanical room. Russ to meet again with Randy Mudge and get answers on the capacity & condition of the current septic system, proper lighting, oil tank, etc. A complete price is needed prior to Town Meeting. Russ is also to meet with Fire Chief Bob Seavey regarding possible changes in parking, etc.

 

Chairman Hayward stated that there is no need for the Board to meet with Mr. Mudge; this is the Chief’s project and he knows what he needs in a building.

 

DEPARTMENT REPORTS

Town Administrator – The 2003 holiday schedule was presented showing the days that the departments will be closed. A meeting has been set for Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at 5:00 p.m. prior to the regular Selectmen Meeting to discuss the budget.

 

Treasurer – Report was presented for November 2002. Administrator Stearns expressed to the Board the great job that Christopher Morris is doing as Treasurer.

 

Trustees of Trust Funds – Report for November 2002 was reviewed and noted that the interest doesn’t seem to be climbing. There is over $130,000 in the municipal building capital reserve account.

 

CONTINUING ISSUES

Deputy Health Officer – The Board unanimously approved the appointment of Robert Nordgren as Deputy Health Officer upon the recommendation of Health Officer, Dr. Kenneth Kerwin.

 

NON-PUBLIC

On a motion by Selectman Jones, seconded by Selectman Hutchins the Board voted unanimously, by poll, to adjourn at 4:10 p.m. into non-public session under the terms of RSA 91:A:3 Para. 11(a) to discuss a personnel issue. Selectmen returned to regular session at 4:20 p.m. with Selectman Jones making the motion to approve the bonus gift certificates for the town employees; motion seconded by Selectman Hutchins. Unanimously approved.

 

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business, Selectman Jones moved to adjourn, seconded by Selectman Hutchins; the Board voted unanimously to adjourn at 4:20 p.m. There will be a regular Selectmen’s Meeting on Wednesday, January 8th at 7:00 p.m. at the Town Office.
