Town of Grantham - Board of Selectmen Special Meeting Minutes

November 6, 2002

 

Selectman Michael J. Hayward, Sr. called the special session of the Selectmen's meeting to order on Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. The meeting was held in the Town Office, located at 34 Dunbar Hill Road, Grantham, NH.

Building Permits - Approved

APPEARANCES

Jay Barrett: Mr. Barrett is interested in providing architectural services to the Town for the Police Department Facility. Mr. Barrett presented a proposal to the Board of Selectmen and reviewed his qualifications.

The Selectmen then reviewed other proposals they had received from architectural firms with Chief Lary and will make a decision at the next regular meeting on November 13th.

 

DEPARTMENT REPORTS

Police Department – The October 2002 activity report was reviewed.

 

BUDGET DISCUSSION

Town Clerk / Tax Collector – Rita Eigenbrode was present to discuss her budget. Chairman Hayward questioned the amount for travel and Rita explained that amount is for her and the deputy to attend two conferences. Chairman Hayward informed that there is no need for both to attend the conference and leave the office unattended. Rita stated that she wants her deputy to be as knowledgeable as her in the duties of Town Clerk / Tax Collector but will take Chairman Hayward’s comments under consideration.

 

CONTINUING ISSUES

Ball Field – Selectman Jones met with Bob McNeil, Grantham Indoor, and reviewed the possibility of ball fields on his property. There are monies available on a joint effort which would be no burden on the taxpayers. Administrator Stearns to contact the interested ball field committee members to schedule an initial meeting. Chairman Hayward would like to have Ken Ryder, General Manager of ECA, be part of the committee.

 

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business, Selectman Hutchins moved to adjourn, seconded by Selectman Jones; the Board voted unanimously to adjourn at 4:45 p.m. There will be a regular Selectmen’s Meeting on Wednesday, November 13th at 7:00 p.m. at the Town Office.
